CLINICAL FACIAL
HOW DOES A CLINICAL FACIAL WORK?
A clinical facial is designed to treat specific skin conditions, and is always customized to a client’s skin. The service will consist of a thorough cleanse and prep- then a mask and peel are chosen and applied. Serums, moisturizer and sunscreen are used to complete the process, which takes about 40 minutes. This is not a “spa day” facial and there is no steam or massage.
HOW DO I KNOW IF I AM A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR A CLINICAL FACIAL?
Clinical Facials are safe for use on all ages and all skin types.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO SEE RESULTS?
You will see results as soon as a week after the first treatment, but most improvement takes place after 3-6 facials, as the skin goes through a few cycles.
WILL THERE BE ANY DOWNTIME?
There is no downtime of any sort with a clinical facial. You can resume normal activities immediately following treatment, including the application of cosmetics.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
There really are no side effects to this service. However, your skin may have slight redness and/or sensitivity for about an hour after the treatment. In some cases, purging (pimples) may occur, or there may be light flaking of the skin. Under no circumstances should you ever pick at the lesions or flaking skin.
DOES A CLINICAL FACIAL HURT?
The procedure is extremely tolerable. Some patients describe a slight tingling, burning or itching sensation during the peel and occasionally the mask.
WHO SHOULD NOT DO THIS TREATEMENT?
Anyone who has recently undergone any sort of ablative procedure such as laser resurfacing or micro dermabrasion, or anyone using Accutane™ or ProActiv™ should wait at least 2 weeks before doing a clinical facial.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The cost of a clinical facial is $99.
CHEMICAL PEEL
HOW DOES A CHEMICAL PEEL WORK?
A chemical peel is designed to chemically exfoliate the skin and treat specific skin conditions, and is always customized to a client’s skin. The service will consist of a thorough cleanse and prep- then the peel is chosen and applied. The peel is usually comprised of a single acid, or combinations of acids.

MICRO DERMABRASION
HOW DOES MICRO DERMABRASIONS WORK?
Microdermabrasion is best described as a sort of exfoliation. Tiny crystals are swept across the skin at high velocity, abrading the topmost layer of skin so that it is literally ‘polished’ and smoothed. The crystals are then vacuumed back through the treatment tip so that neither the technician or patient are exposed to used materials. The treatment is usually carried out as a series of six sessions, spaced a week apart, but it can also be used prior to any of our other skin treatments.
HOW DO I KNOW IF I AM A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR MICRODERMABRASION?
Microdermabrasion is safe for use on all ages and all skin types.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO SEE RESULTS?
You will see results as soon as the first treatment, but most improvement takes place between 3-6 sessions, as the skin goes through a few cycles.

LED LIGHT THERAPY
WHAT DO THE DIFFERENT COLORS DO?
Red- Heals and removes redness.
Blue – Kills acne bacteria. (ALSO REDUCES SEASONAL AFFECTIVE DISORDER – SAD)
Infra-Red – Penetrates deep to stimulate collagen production and improve circulation.
Amber – Helps to optimize lymphatic operation and reduce redness and pigmentation.
HOW OFTEN ARE THE TREATMENTS?
Twice a week for 4-6 weeks is the standard protocol. We will discuss the right options for you at your first treatment.
DOES LED HURT?
Absolutely not. Aside from the bright light (you’ll have goggles), you are cozy and secure in your private room. Most clients fall asleep.
HOW LONG DOES A TREATMENT TAKE?
Blue only treatments take 10 minutes, and are used 2-3 times a week. All the other modalities take 20 minutes.
WILL LED GET RID OF ACNE SCARRING?
LED will help with pigmented scarring. It will also provide minimal benefits for pitted scarring, but additional procedures, such as sublation, peels, and microdermabrasion are usually required to make a real difference.
WILL LED HELP WITH ROSACEA?
Absolutely! The red/blue or red/amber are both excellent choices. However, it’s important to note that rosacea clients cannot use infra-red. Having said that, IPL (Skin Rejuvenation) may actually be more effective in treating rosacea.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
There are no known side-effects, aside from the occasional temporary redness that may occur. If this happens, it usually resolves itself within 60 minutes following treatment.
CAN I DO LED TREATMENTS WHEN I AM PREGNANT?
Although there are no known reason why you should not do these treatments when you are pregnant, you should wait until the baby is born. There are other treatments, such as microdermabrasion and some chemical peels that can be done instead.
CAN I HAVE LED WHEN BREASTFEEDING?
Yes- although it is not advised to do them on the chest- as it may trigger lactaction.
IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME?
There is absolutely no downtime- you can immediately resume normal activities, including wearing make-up. If there is any redness, it usually disappears in less than 60 minutes.
HOW SOON WILL I SEE RESULTS?
In some cases, blue/red light treatments will result in a reduction in inflammation right away. However, it usually takes about 3-4 sessions before results are visible. (Remember, the skin needs to heal!)
