Skin rejuvenation is a combination of bi-polar radio-frequency and light energy, that precisely targets pigmented lesions such as freckles, sun spots, and age spots. At a different parameter, the treatment will also affect vascular lesions such as spider veins and redness (including rosacea).
HOW DO I KNOW IF I’M A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR SKI REJUVENATION?
Skin Rejuvenation can be used on most skin types. The exception would be very dark to black skin, where it is difficult to see the lesions requiring treatment, and there is a higher chance of burning the skin.

As a result, your skin is smoother and more elastic, even after one treatment.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REFIRME AND SUBLIME?
There is virtually no difference between the two. Sublime is a re-branding of the term “ReFirme”, and is used in the latest generation of Syneron Equipment, which is what we have in our Edmonton location. Sublime is slightly more powerful than ReFirme, so less passes are required to achieve end-point.

SUBLATIVE REJUVENATION - RESURFACING | SCARRING | TEXTURE
WHAT IS SUBLATIVE REJUVENATION?
Sublative rejuvenation is a resufacing treatment that delivers bi-polar radio frequency (RF) energy to the skin via a matrix—a grid of 64 electrodes—in a disposable applicator tip.
HOW DOES SUBLATIVE REJUVENATION WORK?
Unlike traditional fraxel lasers- ablation (removal) of soft tissue and resurfacing of the skin using Elos Plus RF allows for deeper penetration into the skin, affecting the underlying areas rather than removing more surface skin and damaging the top level in the process.
During treatment, the special single use tip is attached to the applicator on our Syneron platform. It delivers bi-polar radio frequency (RF) energy to the skin via a matrix. As a result, the targeted skin is injured and the surrounding skin is untouched, which allows it to aid in healing the injured skin. During the healing process, new collagen is produced, reducing wrinkles, skin laxity, textural irregularities, and scarring.
IS SUBLATIVE REJUVENATION SAFE?
The short answer is “yes.” Bi-polar radio frequency energy has been used safely for many years in skin-rejuvenation treatments.
WHAT TYPE OF TRAINING DO THE TECHNICIANS HAVE?
Our technicians are medical aestheticians or laser technicians. In addition, they have received training and certification specific to Sublative Rejuvenation. Although Alberta has no regulations in place governing technicians who work in medi-spas, we require our technicians to be fully trained and certified.
WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR SUBLATIVE REJUVENATION?
Because Sublative® Rejuvenation is safe for most skin types, it is a good option for most clients.
WHAT AREAS OF THE BODY CAN YOU TREAT WITH SUBLATIVE REJUVENATION?
Most clients choose to have Sublative elos Plus RF treatments on their faces. However, some also have treatments on their necks, chests, abdomens, elbows, etc. The lips cannot be treated using Sublative Rejuvenation.
HOW MUCH TIME DOES A SUBLATIVE REJUVENATION TREATMENT TAKE?
Because each client is unique, the time required for a Sublative Rejuvenation treatment may vary. On average, appointments usually last for 50-60 minutes.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE REQUIRED?
We recommend a minimum of three to five treatments, allowing three to six weeks between each treatment. Sublative Rejuvenation can also be combined with other skin-rejuvenation treatments.
DOES IT HURT?
We use topical anesthetic for all clients receiving Sublative Rejuvenation, which makes the treatment virtually painless. However, a “sunburn” like sensation is very common once the freezing wears off. This will last from 12-24 hours and can be easily managed with cold compresses and/or pain-killers such as Tylenol or Advil.
HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS LAST?
As with all skin-rejuvenation treatments, long-term results will vary depending on the individual, the number of treatments, and the conditions being treated. Full results are usually experienced anywhere from three to six months following your last treatment. Maintenance treatments may be required over time. Most clients choose to undergo maintenance treatments every six to 12 months.
WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS OF SUBLATIVE REJUVENATION?
After a Sublative Rejuvenation treatment, it is not uncommon to have some redness and swelling in the treated area. It should begin to improve after about three days. Your technician will provide you with products to apply to your skin, which will help with the healing process.
After approximately one to three days, small pinpoint crusts will appear in treatment areas where the RF tip contacted your skin. They will exfoliate naturally and if you wish, you can cover them up with makeup.
LASER HAIR REMOVAL - PERMANENT HAIR REDUCTION
HOW DOES LASER HAIR REMOVAL WORK?
Syneron’s laser hair removal is a combination of bi-polar radio-frequency and light energy that precisely targets the melanin (pigment) in hair follicles. As a result of this energy, the follicle is permanently destroyed, and the body sheds the destroyed hair. It is important to understand that laser hair removal only works on hair in the ‘anagen’, or active growing stage. This is why multiple treatments are required.
WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR LASER HAIR REMOVAL?
Although the ideal candidate is a person with pale skin and dark hair, Syneron’s laser hair removal can be used on most skin types. The exception would be very dark to black skin, as there is a lot of melanin in this skin. Additionally, it should be noted that very light hair can also be difficult to treat, and Syneron’s elos™ laser is one of the few that has been successful doing so.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SEE RESULTS?
Hair growth will be diminished after each treatment, and full results can typically be achieved in 5-8 sessions. It may take slightly less or more, dependent upon your skin and hair type. Lighter hair generally takes the longest.

LOW LEVEL LASER THERAPY (LLLT) - FAT REDUCTION
HOW DOES LLLT WORK?
LLLT creates heat within the adipose (fat) layer, which allows the adipocytes (fat cells) to release triglycerides in the form of fatty acids, glycerol and water into the body to be used as energy. It is important to exercise within 2 hours of treatment, to use up this energy before it is re-absorbed. The treatment takes 30-60 minutes, depending on the area being treated.
WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR LLLT?
Anyone with localized fatty areas can receive treatment, but the best candidates are the ones who commit to a regular routine of diet and exercise. Lipolaser is not designed to be a method for weight-loss, but a way of targeting and reducing specific areas.

HOW DOES VELASHAPE WORK?
Velashape uses a variety of technologies: A vacuum elevates the target tissue to bring it closer to the energy source- infra red light. As the infra-red light heats the area, radio frequency guides it through the tissue. Heat is maintained for a period of time, dependent on the treatment area.
WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR VELASHAPE?
Anyone with cellulite or localized fatty areas can receive treatment, but the best candidates are the ones who commit to a regular routine of diet and exercise.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SEE RESULTS?
Results are cumulative, and usually start to appear after the 4th treatment (sooner for fat loss). Cellulite smoothing has to allow for the formation of new collagen- so the results are usually seen later. Best results are seen about 4-6 weeks following the last treatment.
ARE RESULTS PERMANENT?
Following your treatment regimen, it is recommended that you periodically (every 3-12 months) receive maintenance treatments. As with any non-invasive AND invasive treatment, results last longest if you follow a regular exercise and diet regimen.
